IZMO expands into silicon photonics, AI; targets optical transceiver market

IZMO Limited is embarking on a strategic expansion, leveraging its existing cash-flow positive SaaS business (izmoauto/izmostock) to fund a hyper-growth deep-tech venture (izmomicro). The company aims to establish India's first integrated Silicon Photonics (SiPh) Packaging Unit, targeting the over $15 billion optical transceiver market driven by AI data centers. This initiative includes the manufacture of high-speed SFP optical transceivers, addressing a global demand exceeding 1 billion units annually.

The company plans a capital raise of up to INR 200 crore through a combination of equity instruments to finance specialized manufacturing equipment and R&D. Furthermore, IZMO's FrogData AI platform is set to provide strategic solutions in the automotive sector, offering predictive analytics and driving high-margin recurring revenue. The optical transceiver market in India is estimated at $600-650 million in 2024, with the 400G module segment expected to reach $300-400 million by 2029, growing at a CAGR of over 30%.

IZMO has a strategic partnership with CPPICS-IIT Madras, which is funded by MeitY, positioning it as an exclusive industry partner for the design, development, and packaging of Silicon Photonics. The company's in-house R&D unit is recognized by DSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology, offering benefits like customs duty exemption, fund grant assistance, R&D subsidy, and 100% income tax benefits under section 35 (1) of the income tax act.
