RailTel appoints new CVO, faces SEBI board composition fines

RailTel Corporation of India has announced the appointment of sarika aggarwal synrem as its chief vigilance officer (CVO), effective November 21, 2025. Synrem, a 2001-batch Indian Defence Accounts Service officer, will serve an initial three-year term and now forms part of the company's senior management personnel. Her appointment was made following a Ministry of Railway order and was communicated to the stock exchanges on November 28, 2025.

Concurrently, RailTel disclosed that both the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited (BSE) have levied fines of INR 5,42,800 each (inclusive of GST) for non-compliance with Regulation 17(1) of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015. This non-compliance pertains to the composition of RailTel's board for the quarter ended September 30, 2025.

RailTel, a government company, stated that the appointment of directors, including independent directors, rests with the President of India through the Ministry of Railways, and the company has no role in these appointments. Requests for the requisite number of directors have been made to the Ministry, and the company confirmed that the fines have no impact on its financial, operational, or other activities.
