Bharti Airtel fined for subscriber verification lapses

Bharti Airtel announced it received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Maharashtra LSA, imposing a penalty of INR 107,000. The penalty stems from alleged violations of subscriber verification norms identified during a customer application form (CAF) audit conducted for September 2025.

The DoT's communication, received on November 27, 2025, indicates that Bharti Airtel is required, under its license agreement, to ensure proper verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers. The company confirmed it has opted not to contest the penalty and will proceed with payment.

The maximum financial impact of this incident for Bharti Airtel is limited to the penalty levied. The disclosure was made in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements), Regulations, 2015.
