Ashoka Buildcon suspended from NHAI bids after fatal incident

Ashoka Buildcon Limited announced it received a letter from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on November 26, 2025, detailing a show cause notice and a temporary suspension from future bids. The notice relates to an incident on the six-lane Elevated Corridor project from Aroor to Thuravoor Thekku on NH-66, where two precast girders fell, one causing a fatality.

The company is temporarily suspended for one month from participating in ongoing or future NHAI bids, or until an expert committee completes its investigation, whichever is later. Ashoka Buildcon stated that the incident was triggered by a sudden and unpredictable hydraulic jack failure and involved a goods carrier vehicle that forcibly entered a prohibited construction zone. The company maintains that it has consistently implemented all safety precautions and protocols.

Ashoka Buildcon is currently assessing the financial impact of the suspension and will inform the exchanges in due course. The company confirmed that all other operations remain unaffected and reiterated its commitment to following all regulatory standards.
