Patel Engineering secures ₹798 crore excavation, coal transportation contracts

Patel Engineering Ltd. has secured two Letters of Intent from Saidax Engineers and Infrastructure Private Limited for excavation and associated works, including the transportation of coal. These projects, located at Jhiria West OCP of Hasdeo Area, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, are for South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and hold a combined value of ₹798.19 crores, excluding taxes. The company highlighted its strong track record in large-scale infrastructure projects.

The scope of work encompasses Composite Work Overburden Removal, Rehandling, Coal Cutting by Surface Miner, Loading and Transportation of Coal, and the hiring of necessary plant and equipment, including diesel supply and full maintenance, along with required staff and labor. The execution period for these contracts is nine years. This development adds to Patel Engineering's robust tender pipeline, which includes projects worth over ₹34,000 crores already bid and under evaluation.

managing director Kavita Shirvaikar noted that these projects represent a natural extension of the company's large-scale infrastructure work and open new avenues. She also mentioned anticipated bidding opportunities of ₹18,000 crores before the financial year-end and around ₹1 lakh crores over the next one to two years in core operational areas, projecting substantial growth in the order book.
