GAIL clarifies pipeline leak incident, restores gas supply

GAIL (India) Limited responded to an inquiry regarding a gas leakage incident on November 16, 2025. The incident involved an 18-inch pipeline supplying gas to Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), Wadala. The leakage occurred within Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF), Trombay premises, approximately 7.0 km along the pipeline. GAIL's O&M team promptly arrived at the site and identified the damage as a third-party incident caused by a contract agency working without GAIL's prior intimation.

Following isolation and depressurization of the pipeline, GAIL decided on a cut and replacement repair for the damaged section. Repair activities, including cold cutting, spool piece removal, new piece installation, welding, and nitrogen purging, commenced at 17:00 Hrs on November 16, 2025. These activities were completed by 11:50 Hrs on November 18, 2025. Gas-in operations began at 13:20 Hrs on November 18, 2025, leading to the normalization of gas supply to MGL Wadala CGS.

GAIL clarified that this event was not deemed material under Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, and thus was not intimated to stock exchanges. The company reported no material price movement in its share price during this period and stated that the incident had no material impact on its operations or performance.
