Websol Energy plans 4 GW solar expansion in Andhra Pradesh

Websol Energy System Limited, a manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells and modules, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB). This agreement, formalized on November 15, 2025, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Websol Renewables Private Limited, marks the initial phase of developing a 4 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.

This expansion is a strategic step towards Websol's growth plans, increasing its total capacity to 5.2 GW. The company aims to leverage its over three decades of technical expertise in solar cell manufacturing to deliver high-efficiency solar-based products across India, contributing to the nation's clean energy leadership.

Websol Energy System Limited currently operates a manufacturing facility in the Falta Special Economic Zone in West Bengal, with a solar cell capacity of 1,200 MW and a module capacity of 550 MW. This new venture underscores its commitment to local production and technological advancement within the solar industry.
