Som Distilleries reports strong Q2 profit growth despite income dip

Som Distilleries & Breweries Limited reported an increase in net profit by 4.3% to Rs. 195 million for Q2 FY2026, compared to Rs. 187 million in Q2 FY2025. EBITDA also saw significant growth, rising by 15.1% to Rs. 405 million from Rs. 352 million in the same period last year. Total income, however, experienced a slight decline of 7.2% to Rs. 2,700 million.

The company's IMFL portfolio demonstrated strong performance, with volumes increasing by 65% in Q2 FY2026. Beer volume for the quarter was 36 lakh cases, down 19% year-on-year. For the first half of FY2026, net profit increased by 3.9% to Rs. 616 million, and EBITDA grew by 12.5% to Rs. 1,126 million.

Strategic initiatives include expanding its presence in Uttar Pradesh through its subsidiary "Woodpecker Greenagri" and the successful launch of Mahavat whisky, which is expanding from Bhopal to Delhi. The company is also setting up a Rs. 600 crore greenfield brewery and distillery project in Uttar Pradesh, expected to create 700-800 local jobs.
