Bharti Airtel fined for subscriber verification violations

Bharti Airtel Limited announced it has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Karnataka LSA, imposing a penalty of ₹212,000. This action, communicated on November 14, 2025, stems from alleged violations of subscriber verification norms identified during a sample Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit conducted by the DoT for September 2025.

The penalty relates to Bharti Airtel's obligation under its License Agreement to ensure adequate verification of customers before enrollment and to comply with DoT instructions. The company stated that the maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty levied.

In response to the communication, Bharti Airtel has opted not to contest the penalty and intends to pay the amount. The company made this disclosure under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements), Regulations, 2015.
