Adani Power secures major 3,200 MW thermal power project in Assam

Adani Power Limited has received a letter of award from Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for a 3,200 MW (4X800 MW) greenfield ultra-supercritical thermal power plant. The project will operate on a design, build, finance, own and operate ("DBFOO") model, sourcing fuel from a utility-arranged coal linkage under the SHAKTI Policy. The letter of award, granted on November 13, 2025, involves long-term procurement of electricity for Assam.

The thermal power project is slated for commissioning in a phased manner, commencing December 2030, with full completion expected by December 2032. This substantial agreement underlines Adani Power’s commitment to expanding its energy generation capacity and supplying power to the region.

The company's announcement detailed the order's nature as a domestic entity contract for electricity procurement. It also confirmed that neither the promoter nor promoter group companies have an interest in the awarding entity, and the transaction does not involve related party transactions at "arm's length".
