BPCL: Mozambique LNG project force majeure resolved, construction to resume

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced that the Area 1, Mozambique LNG Project consortium partners have decided to resolve the force majeure previously declared in April 2021. The force majeure was issued due to a deterioration in the security situation in the north of Cabo Delgado province, which had suspended construction activities that began in 2019. The decision to resolve the force majeure follows an improvement in the security situation.

BPRL Ventures Mozambique B.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BPCL, holds a 10% participating interest (PI) in the Area 1 concession. Total EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada operates the project with a 26.5% participating interest. Other consortium partners include ENH Rovuma Área Um, S.A. (15%), MIT Rovuma Offshore SU LDA (20%), ONGC Videsh Rovuma Limited (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (10%), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Limited (8.5%).
