Havells India resolves trademark dispute with HPL Group

Havells India Limited announced on November 9, 2025, that it has signed a settlement agreement with the HPL Group and its promoters. This agreement resolves all outstanding disputes and litigations concerning the use of the word/mark 'HAVELLS', including cases in the Delhi High Court and Special Leave Petitions in the Supreme Court. The Delhi High Court had referred these matters to mediation, culminating in the settlement executed on November 8, 2025.

Under the terms of the settlement, the HPL Group acknowledges Havells India Limited's absolute rights to the 'HAVELLS' mark since 1971. The HPL Group has waived all claims to the mark and committed not to use or challenge it. Furthermore, the HPL Group will change the corporate names of its entities, namely Havell's Private Limited and Havells Electronics Private Limited, to exclude 'HAVELLS'.

As a full and final settlement, Havells India Limited will pay the HPL Group Rs. 129.60 crores. This information was disseminated to the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited as an intimation under Regulation 30.
