Tata Elxsi, GSMA partner to monetize operator networks through APIs

Tata Elxsi and the GSMA have signed a memorandum of understanding under the GSMA Fusion initiative, focusing on accelerating enterprise API adoption and operator network monetization. This partnership includes a global statement of requirements to help mobile operators generate new revenue by monetizing networks via standardized APIs, enabling enterprise-ready services across various industries, including automotive, industrial, healthcare, and entertainment.

The initial focus will be on the automotive and drone sectors, supporting enterprise demand for new digital services and applications leveraging standardized Quality on Demand (QoD) APIs and other network APIs. This strategic move aligns with Tata Elxsi's AI First Telco strategy, which aims to help operators move beyond basic connectivity. The global network API market is projected to grow from $1.96 bn in 2025 to $6.13 bn by 2030, driven by 5G adoption and enterprise digital transformation.

The collaboration will leverage GSMA's Open Gateway framework and CAMARA-standardized APIs to develop demand-driven use cases, with Tata Elxsi integrating Open Gateway certified CAMARA APIs into its TETHER platform. Key focus areas include enterprise demand generation, technical enablement, go-to-market acceleration, and the development of commercial models for API consumption and monetization.
