Ramco Industries wins appeal, GST penalty waived

Ramco Industries Limited announced on November 5, 2025, that its appeal against a GST penalty has been allowed. The joint commissioner (appeals-I), North, Tamil Nadu, issued an order on November 4, 2025, overturning the Rs. 0.75 lakh fine previously imposed by the superintendent of GST & Central Excise, Tamil Nadu. The initial penalty was disclosed in the company's integrated filing for the quarter ended March 31, 2025.

The penalty stemmed from a 2020-21 incident where a supplier failed to file their GSTR-3B return and remit their GST portion to the department. Ramco Industries had initially paid GST of Rs. 6,11,715, along with interest and a penalty of Rs. 75,226, in response to the original order.

With the appeal now allowed, Ramco Industries expects a refund of the GST paid. This outcome favors Ramco Industries, resolving the regulatory issue related to supplier non-compliance.
