Medanta expands with new super-specialty hospital in Guwahati

Global Health Limited (Medanta) announced the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony for its upcoming 400+ bed super-specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam, on October 31, 2025. This state-of-the-art facility, situated at Industrial Estate, Sarusajai along National Highway 27, is projected to cost approximately INR 500 crores. It will offer comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care across more than 30 medical specialties, including a robust transplant program, cardiology, oncology, and neurosurgery, aiming to address underserved healthcare needs of the Northeast.

The new hospital is expected to generate 5,000-7,000 direct and indirect jobs across various sectors, contributing significantly to the region's socio-economic development. Medanta, one of India's largest private multi-specialty tertiary care providers, currently operates a network of six hospitals with 3,362 installed beds as of September 1, 2025. It also has four additional hospitals, totaling approximately 2,000 planned beds, in various stages of development.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, chairman and managing director of Medanta, emphasized the hospital's role in making cutting-edge healthcare accessible across the region. Pankaj Sahni, group chief executive officer, highlighted Guwahati's strategic position as the gateway to the North East, affirming that the facility will bring world-class medical care within reach of over 50 million people.
