Bandhan Bank appoints Gauri Sarma as independent director

Bandhan Bank Limited, on October 28, 2025, announced the appointment of Gauri Prosad Sarma as an additional director (independent) on its board, effective immediately. Following this, he will serve as an independent director for a term of three consecutive years, subject to shareholder approval within three months of his appointment. The decision was made based on recommendations from the nomination and remuneration committee of the board.

Sarma brings over 37 years of distinguished banking experience, notably as chief general manager (operations) at Punjab National Bank (PNB), where he also spearheaded digital banking, FinTech, and credit card verticals. His expertise spans operational excellence, digital transformation, fintech innovation, and strategic leadership. He has previously served as an advisor and consultant for PNB post-superannuation and held director roles on the boards of PNB Cards & Services Ltd and PSB Alliance Pvt Ltd.

Academically, Sarma holds an M.Sc. degree from Gauhati University and a B.Sc. (Honours) from Cotton College. His extensive certifications include CAIIB, JAIIB, IT Security, Digital Banking, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Certified Foreign Exchange Professional. He is currently an independent director on the boards of two other listed companies, B & A Limited and B & A Packaging India Limited. Bandhan Bank confirmed that Sarma is unrelated to other directors and is not debarred from holding office by any regulatory authority.
