Sona Comstar posts record revenue and PAT, advances EV tech

Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue of INR 1,144 crores, a 24% year-over-year growth. Profit after tax (PAT) increased by 20% year-over-year to INR 173 crores for Q2 FY26. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) contributed 32% to revenue. For H1 FY26, revenue was INR 1,994 crores (10% year-over-year growth), and PAT was INR 297 crores (4% year-over-year growth). The company successfully developed and validated rare-earth-free ferrite-assisted synchronous reluctance motors for three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles, alongside manufacturing light rare-earth magnet motors for electric two-wheelers.

Strategic advancements include a first order for differential assemblies from its Mexico plant, valued at INR 2.6 billion, and nominations for two additional active suspension system programs (integrated motor controller modules) with an order value of INR 8.2 billion. Sona Comstar also signed an MOU with Neura Robotics of Germany for developing advanced components for industrial robots and humanoids.

In a key development from its board meeting, Sona Comstar decided to put its proposed joint venture (JV) with Jinnaite Machinery Co. Ltd. (JNT) in China in abeyance, rescinding the term sheet executed on 20th July 2025. Additionally, the board appointed Pratik Sachan as senior management personnel (SMP), head-strategy & M&A.
