KMEW secures 15-year green tug contract with VOCPA

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) announced today, October 27, 2025, that it has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from V. O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) for the hiring of a 60-ton bollard pull capacity electric tug. This contract, under the Green Tug Transition Program (GTTP), includes manning, operations, maintenance, and complete technical management at VOCPA for 15 years.

The LOI is valued at ₹385.76 Crores, inclusive of taxes, and is one of the longest-tenured contracts KMEW has secured in the past decade. This initiative aligns with India's Maritime India Vision 2030, which aims for a 30% reduction in carbon emissions and a transition to cleaner fuels across port operations. The electric green tug will be designed and built in-house, highlighting KMEW's expanding capabilities in advanced marine solutions.

This project reinforces KMEW's strategic presence in southern India and contributes to its green business model and long-term value creation.
