Chennai Petroleum reports profit surge in first half of 2025

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited reported an audited standalone profit of INR 674.93 crore for the six months ended September 30, 2025, a significant improvement from a loss of INR 286.89 crore in the corresponding period of 2024. Total comprehensive income for the period also saw a notable rise to INR 689.68 crore, reversing a loss of INR 294.45 crore from the previous year. For the quarter ended September 30, 2025, the company posted a standalone profit of INR 731.55 crore, a sharp contrast to the INR 629.49 crore loss reported in the same quarter last year.

Consolidated figures also reflect this positive trend, with a profit of INR 679.27 crore and total comprehensive income of INR 694.02 crore for the six months ended September 30, 2025, compared to losses in the prior year. Revenue from operations for the first half of 2025 reached INR 38716.98 crore (standalone) and INR 38717.11 crore (consolidated). The average Gross Refining Margin for April-September 2025 was US$ 6.17 per bbl, an increase from US$ 2.93 per bbl in the previous year.

The company's statutory auditor, R.G.N. Price & Co., issued an unmodified opinion on both the standalone and consolidated financial results. However, it was noted that the company does not meet the minimum number of independent directors, including one woman independent director, as required by the Companies Act, 2013 and SEBI Regulations, 2015.
