GMR Warora Energy changes auditors due to independence concerns

GMR Warora Energy Limited (GWEL) announced a change in its statutory auditors. S.R. Batliboi & Associates LLP tendered their resignation on October 23, 2025, citing internal independence requirements after non-audit services were proposed to be provided by another member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited.

S.R. Batliboi & Associates LLP had been re-appointed as statutory auditors for a five-year term from April 01, 2024. They completed the audit of Ind AS financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2025, and issued their report on April 23, 2025. Additionally, they performed a limited review of unaudited special purpose financial information for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, and issued a report on October 23, 2025. They had not yet commenced the audit for the year ending March 31, 2026.

The board of directors of GWEL, in a meeting on October 23, 2025, approved and recommended the appointment of M/s Walker Chandiok & Co LLP as the new statutory auditors to fill the casual vacancy.
