Eternal Limited faces over 128 crore rupees tax demand from Uttar Pradesh

Eternal Limited, previously known as Zomato Limited, announced that it has received an order from the Deputy Commissioner, State Tax, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The order, dated October 18, 2025, confirms a Goods and Services Tax (GST) demand of INR 64,17,43,503 for the period April 2023 to March 2024. This demand also includes applicable interest and an equal penalty of INR 64,17,43,503, totaling over INR 128 crores.

The demand order was issued under Section 74 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, and the Uttar Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The alleged violations relate to short payment of output tax and excess availment of input tax credit.

Eternal Limited plans to file an appeal against the order, stating it believes it has a strong case on the merits. The company does not anticipate any financial impact on its operations due to this development.
