POWERGRID acquires SR WR power transmission for ₹11.29 crore

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) announced on October 17, 2025, the acquisition of SR WR Power Transmission Limited (SRWRPTL), a project special purpose vehicle, for approximately ₹11.29 crore. This includes 50,000 equity shares at ₹10 each, along with SRWRPTL's assets and liabilities as of the acquisition date. The final acquisition price remains subject to adjustment based on audited accounts.

The acquisition was executed under the tariff based competitive bidding route, following POWERGRID's selection as the successful bidder. SRWRPTL's project focuses on establishing "inter-regional strengthening between SR grid and WR grid" on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis. The project encompasses 765 kV D/c transmission lines across Karnataka and Maharashtra, including associated line bays.

SRWRPTL, incorporated on July 1, 2025, by the bid process coordinator, will engage in power transmission, aligning with POWERGRID's core business. The entity has not yet commenced commercial operations and has no recorded turnover. Prior to the acquisition, POWERGRID had no related party interest in SRWRPTL.
