IndiGo doubles A350-900 order, expands international reach

IndiGo has converted 30 of its 70 Airbus A350-900 purchase rights into firm orders, doubling its wide-body order from 30 to 60 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This move reinforces the airline's commitment to expanding its international footprint and connectivity. With this conversion, IndiGo retains purchase rights for 40 more wide-body aircraft.

The A350-900 aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce's Trent XWB engines, are expected to play a pivotal role in enabling IndiGo to connect India with more global destinations, supporting India's vision of becoming a global aviation hub by 2030. The airline has already launched flights to Manchester and Amsterdam, with Copenhagen, London, and Athens to follow, utilizing its fleet of Boeing 787-9 and soon-to-be-inducted Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

This expansion aligns with IndiGo's strategy of "Towards new heights, across new frontiers," as it strengthens its network across Asia and prepares to open new routes to the Americas and other long-haul destinations with the arrival of the Airbus A350 fleet. IndiGo currently operates over 2,200 daily flights, connecting more than 90 domestic and 40 international destinations, with a fleet of 400+ aircraft and an order book of nearly 900+ aircraft.
