Finolex Cables hit with ₹4.1m tax demand over GST mismatch

Finolex Cables Ltd. today announced it has received an Order-in-Original from the assistant commissioner, Central Tax, Division-II (Pimpri), Pune-I Commissionerate, confirming a partial demand under a show cause notice (SCN). The order, dated October 16, 2025, disallows input tax credit due to a GST portal mismatch and other reasons.

The total demand levied against the company amounts to ₹4,119,034. This comprises ₹1,003,297 in tax, ₹522,487 in interest, and a penalty of ₹2,593,250. The company states that this demand is not expected to have a major impact on its operations.

Finolex Cables has the option to file an appeal before the appellate authority against this order. The company stated that the demand stems from alleged claims of excess input tax credit compared to what was reported on the GST portal.
