Ashok Leyland bags major bus order from Tamil Nadu

Ashok Leyland has secured an order for 1,937 buses from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings, strengthening its presence in the bus industry. The order was awarded following a regular tender process and includes AIS 153 compliant BS VI diesel-fueled chassis and low-floor fully built buses. The total net contract value for this order is Rs. 668.76 Crores.

The order's execution is segmented, with 1,701 BS VI diesel chassis and low-floor fully built buses scheduled for delivery between October 2025 and March 2026. Additionally, 236 semi-low floor diesel BS VI fully built buses are slated for delivery from September 2026 to January 2027.

The order encompasses a mix of chassis and fully built configurations for town, mofussil, and SETC applications, all built to the latest Indian safety and performance regulations. This domestic contract reinforces Ashok Leyland's established partnership with TNSTU, where over 21,000 of its buses are already in operation.
