Great Eastern Shipping expands fleet, receives independent ESG rating

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has taken delivery of the 2016-built Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier "Jag Anjali," with a capacity of approximately 81,922 dwt. The company financed this acquisition entirely through internal accruals. This addition increases G E Shipping's owned fleet to 40 vessels, comprising 26 tankers (5 crude carriers, 17 product tankers, 4 LPG carriers) and 14 dry bulk carriers, totaling 3.21 million dwt.

In Q2 FY26, the company also contracted to buy one secondhand Suezmax crude tanker and sell another secondhand Suezmax crude tanker. These transactions are expected to conclude by Q3 FY26.

Separately, CFC Finlease Private Limited, a SEBI-registered ESG rating provider, independently assigned G E Shipping an overall ESG score of 66 for FY 2024-25, based on publicly available data. The company clarified that it did not engage CFC Finlease Private Limited for this rating.
