Tata Steel sees strong Q2 FY26 production, deliveries rise

Tata Steel India's crude steel production reached 5.67m tons in 2QFY26, an 8% increase quarter-on-quarter and 7% year-on-year, primarily due to the normalization of operations after a blast furnace relining. Half-year production for India stands at 10.9m tons, up 3% year-on-year. Domestic deliveries for Tata Steel India also rose significantly to 5.56m tons, marking a 20% quarter-on-quarter and 7% year-on-year increase, supported by improved production and stable market demand.

The company highlighted robust domestic delivery performance, with 'Automotive & Special Products' reaching ~0.8m tons, and 'Branded Products & Retail' achieving a best-ever quarterly volume of ~1.9m tons, surpassing the previous best in 4QFY25. 'Industrial Products & Projects' also delivered ~1.9m tons, driven by growth in value-accretive segments like Engineering (up 22% quarter-on-quarter) and SmartF@B (up 80% year-on-year). Gross merchandise value from e-commerce platforms more than tripled year-on-year to INR 1,980 crores.

For Tata Steel Netherlands, liquid steel production was 1.67m tons, with deliveries at 1.54m tons, showing marginal increases both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year. Tata Steel UK's deliveries for the quarter were 0.56m tons, with the construction of an EAF project at Port Talbot now underway.
