CONCOR, UltraTech Cement partner for rail-based bulk cement logistics

Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, announced a strategic agreement with UltraTech Cement Ltd. on October 7, 2025. This collaboration aims to transport bulk cement using specialized tank containers, marking a significant step towards promoting rail-based cargo movement and sustainable logistics in India.

Under the agreement, CONCOR will provide dedicated rakes for bulk cement transportation across identified rail corridors. This initiative is designed to foster a modal shift from road to rail, offering a more sustainable, efficient, and reliable alternative for cement logistics. The partnership is expected to streamline supply chains, reduce road congestion, lower transportation costs, and significantly cut carbon emissions.

The strategic agreement was signed in New Delhi by K. C. Jhanwar, managing director, UltraTech Cement, and Sanjay Swarup, chairman and managing director, CONCOR. This collaboration is anticipated to set new benchmarks in bulk logistics and open avenues for scalable, green logistics solutions across various sectors.
