Mahanagar Gas, Oil India partner on LNG value chain, clean energy

Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on October 6, 2025, to collaborate across the LNG value chain and in emerging clean energy sectors. The agreement aims to accelerate the adoption of cleaner fuels, particularly in long-haul transport, and assess the technical and commercial viability of LNG for heavy-duty transport.

The MoU was signed by MGL's vice president (BD, BIS, commercial & STU) and OIL's executive director (BD), in the presence of senior management from both companies. MGL, a prominent city gas distribution company, operates LNG retail stations and is actively involved in clean energy initiatives. OIL, a Maharatna public sector enterprise, has an extensive hydrocarbon exploration and development program and a roadmap for advancing clean energy projects.

This collaboration is expected to contribute to reducing the overall pollution footprint by enabling greener logistics solutions and exploring projects in clean energy with the objective of scaling feasible pilots commercially.
