Coal India inks MoU for critical mineral exploration with Chhattisgarh corporation

Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced the execution of a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (CMDC). The agreement, dated October 6, 2025, outlines a collaboration between the two entities for the exploration and exploitation of critical minerals and other minerals of mutual interest.

CMDC is identified as a Chhattisgarh state government undertaking. The MoU signifies CIL's strategic intent to diversify its mineral portfolio beyond its primary coal operations and venture into critical mineral resources.

The announcement was made by B.P. Dubey, company secretary and compliance officer of Coal India Limited.
