Torrent Pharma faces overcharging penalty from drug pricing authority

Torrent Pharmaceuticals announced on October 4, 2025, that it has received a demand notice from the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) for INR 6,63,07,606. The notice, dated September 24, 2025, alleges overcharging for five drugs between January 2016 and November 2018, issued under para 15 of the Drug Price Control Order 2013 ("DPCO").

The company confirmed receipt of the demand notice on October 3, 2025, following the NPPA's communications dated September 29, 2025, and October 1, 2025. Torrent Pharmaceuticals stated that, based on its internal assessment, the penalty has no material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities as a listed entity.
