Customs seeks ₹14.48 crore from Exicom Tele-Systems for alleged duty evasion

Exicom Tele-Systems Limited announced on October 3, 2025, that it has received a show cause notice from the Principal Commissioner of Customs (Import), Inland Container Depot, Tughalakabad, New Delhi. The notice, dated September 30, 2025, seeks to recover a differential duty of ₹14,48,80,677, along with applicable interest and penalty.

The demand stems from allegations that Exicom mis-declared imported goods as "Static Converters for Telecom" and wrongly availed a Basic Customs Duty exemption. The Customs authority alleges the goods were intended for Electric Vehicle chargers, which are not eligible for the exemption, leading to the proposed recovery and potential confiscation and penalties.

Exicom believes the demand is not maintainable and is evaluating the matter, intending to submit its reply within the prescribed timeframe. The company does not currently anticipate a material financial, operational, or other impact. The disclosure of the notice was delayed due to internal escalation processes and public holidays.
