Websol doubles solar cell capacity to 1.2 GW with new production line

Websol Energy System Limited has initiated commercial production of its new additional 600 MW Mono PERC solar cell line (Phase II) at Falta, West Bengal, effectively doubling its total solar cell capacity to 1.2 GW. This expansion complements the company's existing 550 MW solar module line at the same facility. The project was entirely funded through internal accruals, reflecting Websol's robust cash flow and conservative capital structure.

During the commissioning process, a temporary eight-day shutdown of the existing cell and module line occurred, resulting in a one-time revenue impact during Q2 FY2026. However, operations have since resumed as planned. This development aligns with Websol's strategy to build a high-efficiency, horizontally integrated cell-to-module value chain and supports India's Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

sohan lal agarwal, managing director, stated this marks a major step in Websol's growth journey, strengthening its market position and advancing its multi-gigawatt expansion roadmap to contribute to India's clean energy transition.
