Vedant Fashions settles legal metrology violation for ₹50,000

Vedant Fashions Limited announced a settlement regarding a violation of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. The company received a Seizure Receipt on July 24, 2025, and a Show Cause Notice on August 13, 2025, from the Department of Legal Metrology (Weight & Measures), Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. The alleged violation involved non-disclosure of product size on labels and insufficient space for quantity declaration, observed during a retail outlet inspection.

In response, Vedant Fashions requested compounding of the offence on August 14, 2025. Subsequently, the authority issued a notice on September 4, 2025, directing the company to pay a compounding fee of ₹50,000. The company complied by depositing the fee on September 25, 2025, and formally informed the authority on September 26, 2025.

The company stated that, apart from the ₹50,000 payment, there is no other quantifiable financial or operational impact on Vedant Fashions Limited as a result of this action.
