Jay Mehta transitions to non-executive chairman at Saurashtra Cement

Saurashtra Cement Limited announced today, September 26, 2025, that its board of directors has approved the change in designation of Jay Mahendra Mehta from executive chairman to non-executive chairman, effective immediately. This decision follows a recommendation from the nomination and remuneration committee and Mehta's personal request, citing a need to focus on other personal and professional commitments outside India.

Mehta will cease to hold executive responsibilities and will not draw a fixed salary in his new capacity. However, he will continue as chairman of the board of directors, providing strategic guidance in a non-executive role. The board acknowledged his valuable leadership as executive chairman, a position he was reappointed to in August 2024, following over three decades in the cement industry and 21 years as executive vice chairman.

Mehta, son of Mahendra N. Mehta, holds degrees in industrial engineering from Columbia University and an MBA from IMD Lausanne. His transition aims to provide continued support to the board while allowing him to pursue other engagements.
