Akzo Nobel India faces tax disallowance notice from Kerala GST department

Akzo Nobel India Limited announced today, September 26, 2025, that it has received a show cause notice from the Assistant Commissioner, Kakkanad Division, Kochi, Kerala GST Department. The notice, dated September 24, 2025, pertains to the disallowance of Input Tax Credit for the period of April 2021 to March 2022.

The disallowance aggregates to a demand of INR 32,42,892, comprising tax along with applicable interest and penalty. This constitutes the total liability and expected financial implication as per the show cause notice.

Akzo Nobel India views this as an initial show cause notice, allowing for further submissions to the relevant authorities. The company is currently preparing its response to address the notice within the stipulated timeframe.
