Akzo Nobel India faces INR 2.1m GST demand over e-way bill errors

Akzo Nobel India Limited announced on September 25, 2025, that it has received a show cause notice dated September 16, 2025, from the Madhya Pradesh GST Department. The notice, issued under Section 74 of the CGST Act/Rules, 2017, pertains to alleged errors in the issuance of E-Way Bills for the period from April 2019 to March 2020.

The total demand from the GST Department aggregates to INR 2,103,822, comprising the tax along with applicable interest and penalty. This financial implication represents the total liability claimed by the department.

Akzo Nobel India Limited is currently in the process of responding to the show cause notice within the stipulated timeframe, indicating that the matter is open for further submissions before the relevant authorities.
