DEE Development Engineers: High Court stays Abohar Plant tariff reduction

DEE Development Engineers Limited announced on September 24, 2025, that the Punjab & Haryana High Court issued a stay order on September 23, 2025. This order halts the operation of the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission's (PSERC) August 20, 2025, order concerning tariff revision for its 8 MW Abohar Plant. As a result, the company will continue to supply electricity to PSPCL at the prevailing tariff of ₹7.47 per unit. Any claims for recovery by PSPCL related to tariff differential will remain suspended until the final resolution by the High Court.

Previously, PSERC had revised the tariff downwards. An order dated May 15, 2025, set the tariff at ₹5.26/unit retrospectively from January 1, 2024, which would have entitled PSPCL to a retrospective recovery of ₹16.74 Crores (differential of ₹2.21/unit). Following a review petition, PSERC's order on August 20, 2025, revised the tariff upward to ₹5.672/unit, still effective from January 1, 2024, leading to a potential retrospective recovery of ₹13.62 Crores (differential of ₹1.798/unit) for PSPCL. The High Court's latest stay order effectively freezes these recovery claims and maintains the higher supply rate.
