Torrent Power acquires Newzone companies for thermal power project

Torrent Power Limited has completed the acquisition of 11,95,110 equity shares of Newzone India Private Limited (NZIPL) and 30,00,000 equity shares of Newzone Power Projects Private Limited (NZPPPL) for a total consideration of ₹211 crore. The acquisition, finalized on September 23, 2025, represents 49% equity in NZIPL and 100% equity in NZPPPL, with the remaining 51% of NZIPL already held by NZPPPL.

NZIPL and NZPPPL were incorporated on October 12, 1999, and February 28, 2008, respectively, both with the objective of power generation. The primary asset of NZIPL is approximately 922 acres of land in Annupur District, Madhya Pradesh, suitable for a coal-based power plant. Neither company has reported any turnover in the last three years.

The acquisition is aimed at implementing a thermal power project on the land held by NZIPL. The process is expected to be completed within four months, with the transaction structured as a cash consideration.
