NTPC to appeal ₹12.67 crore Andhra Pradesh tax demand

NTPC Limited announced on September 22, 2025, that it has received an order from the Principal Commissioner Central Tax Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The order demands payment of tax, interest, and penalty under the Finance Act 1994, totaling ₹12,67,27,052. This amount comprises ₹6,33,58,526 in tax and ₹6,33,68,526 in penalty, with interest applied as applicable.

The demand stems from alleged violations related to service tax on guarantee commission, reimbursement to CISF for arms and ammunition, and manpower supply during the financial years 2016-17 and 2017-18. The company intends to file an appeal against this order before the CESTAT, Hyderabad, within the prescribed timeline.

NTPC stated that this order is not expected to have a material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities.
