L&T partners with ACWA Power on Saudi green hydrogen project

Larsen & Touro's Renewables (RENU) vertical announced on September 22, 2025, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ACWA Power. This MOU pertains to the Renewables & Grid scope of the Yanbu Green Ammonia Project in Saudi Arabia. The project, conceived as a fully integrated facility, will feature captive renewable electricity generation solely from solar and wind sources.

The Renewables & Grid scope encompasses multiple facilities, including solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage system plants, along with associated substations and transmission lines. The MOU establishes a collaborative framework for designing and achieving optimal configuration and performance targets. Larsen & Toubro has committed to entering an EPC contract upon the final proposal's acceptance.

T Madhava Das, member of the board and senior executive vice president (utilities) at Larsen & Toubro, highlighted the company's contribution to Saudi Arabia's ambitions in clean energy and industrial decarbonization. ACWA Power's chief executive, Marco Arcelli, emphasized the project's rapid development as a demonstration of their commitment to the kingdom's leadership in the global energy transition.
