SJVN begins development of 200 MW solar project in Gujarat

SJVN Limited has commenced development of its 200 MW Solar Power Project (GUVNL Phase – XVII) in the Khavda Solar Park, Gujarat. The project, located in the Kachchh district, is being developed at an estimated cost of ₹866.8 crore.

The Khavda Solar Power Project is projected to generate 504.92 million units of electricity in its first year and a cumulative 11,620 million units over 25 years. The power generated will be supplied to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for 25 years at a tariff of Rs. 2.88 per unit, with commissioning slated for December 31, 2026.

This initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 569,250 tonnes over 25 years, contributing to India’s goals of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and Net Zero emissions by 2070. The project will leverage Kachchh's arid land for clean power generation and support Gujarat's renewable energy needs.
