Vodafone Idea faces penalty over CENVAT credit claims

Vodafone Idea Limited announced on September 19, 2025, that it has received an order from the principal commissioner, Central GST, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, under the Finance Act, 1994. The order confirms a penalty of INR 6,47,13,708 under Rule 15(3) of the CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004, read with Section 78(1) of the Finance Act, 1994, along with tax and interest. The penalty stems from an alleged incorrect availing of CENVAT credit on capital goods.

The company stated that it does not agree with the order and plans to take appropriate action, including filing an appeal. The maximum financial impact is quantified to the extent of the tax demand, interest, and penalty levied. The communication detailing this order was received on September 18, 2025.

This disclosure was made pursuant to Regulation 30 read with Clause 20 of Para A of Part A of Schedule III of SEBI Listing Regulations, 2015. Vodafone Idea Limited will pursue all available avenues to contest the order.
