Smiti Holding releases pledged Asian Paints shares

On September 17, 2025, Smiti Holding and Trading Company Private Limited, a promoter of Asian Paints Limited, disclosed the release of 1,400,000 equity shares in Asian Paints Limited. These shares were previously pledged as collateral for a loan taken by the company.

Prior to this event, Smiti Holding held 51,767,638 shares, representing a 5.40% stake in Asian Paints Limited. The total number of encumbered shares held by Smiti Holding stood at 39,211,000, equivalent to 4.09% of the total share capital. Following the release, the total number of encumbered shares has decreased to 37,811,000, now representing 3.94% of Asian Paints' total share capital.

The shares were released from Citicorp Finance (India) Limited, which previously held them as security. This action reflects a reduction in the proportion of the promoter's shares pledged against borrowings.
