Laxmi Organic wins key MERC ruling against MSEDCL

Laxmi Organic Industries Limited announced that the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) issued a final order on September 17, 2025, ruling in the company's favor against Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The ruling states that Laxmi Organic's Unit 2 cannot be levied wheeling or transmission charges/losses by MSEDCL for open access supply from its CPP at Unit 1.

Furthermore, MSEDCL has been directed to withdraw the disconnection notice dated May 29, 2025, and the corrigendum notice dated June 4, 2025. All bills raised by MSEDCL on Unit 2 from June 2019 to May 2025, related to wheeling and transmission charges/losses, have been set aside. MSEDCL must also process the petitioner's units' open access applications without demanding arrears for these charges.

In a separate update, the special leave petition (SLP) (61237 of 2024) remains pending, with no hearing date yet fixed.
