TCS and Qualcomm partner to establish AI innovation lab

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Qualcomm have partnered to create the 'TCS Innovation Lab' in Bengaluru. This lab will focus on co-creating smart, scalable, and sustainable Edge AI capabilities using Qualcomm platforms, aiming to develop solutions for industries transitioning to a software-driven approach. The lab will be part of TCS's IoT-focused "Bringing Life to Things Network" lab and will develop capabilities for sectors such as security and surveillance, healthcare, smart infrastructure, and manufacturing.

The collaboration will leverage advanced Edge AI and Software Defined Everything (SDx) capabilities to enable enterprises to build robust, agile systems that adapt to changes in industry ecosystems. These solutions will find applications in medical devices, smart handhelds for industrial control, and advanced safety and surveillance mechanisms. Qualcomm Technologies' Edge AI-enabled System-on-Chips will connect physical and digital worlds, driving next-generation solutions.

This partnership builds on existing projects between TCS and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., including silicon solution design and IT support. TCS recently developed a real-time smart visual anomaly detection capability for a large automotive manufacturer using Qualcomm Technologies' edge devices, achieving 90% real-time accuracy in detecting surface defects.
