Bharti Airtel fined for subscriber verification violations

Bharti Airtel Limited received a notice on September 15, 2025, from the Department of Telecommunications, Karnataka LSA ("DoT"), imposing a penalty of Rs.2,13,000. This fine is for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms.

The penalty stems from a sample Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit conducted by the DoT for July 2025. This audit found alleged breaches of terms and conditions related to subscriber verification under the License Agreement. As per its license, Bharti Airtel is required to ensure adequate verification of customers and adhere to DoT instructions.

Bharti Airtel Limited has opted not to contest the penalty and will proceed with payment. The maximum financial impact of this particular incident is limited to the levied penalty of Rs.2,13,000.
