JSW Energy unit's battery project tariff appeal rejected by APTEL

JSW Energy Limited announced that its step-down subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Five Limited (JSWREL), did not succeed in its appeal before the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL). The appeal challenged a Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) order from January 2, 2025, which did not adopt the proposed tariff for a 500 MW / 1000 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems Project.

This project was allocated to JSWREL by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). The CERC order, disclosed on January 3, 2025, formed the basis of JSWREL's appeal, which APTEL rejected on September 12, 2025.

JSW Energy Limited is now evaluating further remedies, including the potential to file an appeal with the Supreme Court against the APTEL order.
