Adani Enterprises wins major Kedarnath ropeway project

Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the National Highways Logistics Management Ltd. (NHLML) for the Sonprayag-Kedarnath ropeway project. This 12.9 km ropeway, AEL’s first, will involve an investment of ₹4,081 crore and is slated for completion in six years under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with AEL operating it for 29 years post-construction.

Once operational, the ropeway will drastically cut travel time from 8-9 hours to just 36 minutes, significantly enhancing pilgrimage safety and accessibility. It is designed to transport 1,800 passengers per hour per direction, addressing the needs of approximately 20 lakh pilgrims who visit Kedarnath annually. The project is a part of the National Ropeways Development Programme - Parvatmala Pariyojana.

This initiative is expected to boost tourism and create numerous job opportunities in the region. Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, highlighted the project's dual role in serving devotion and modernizing infrastructure, emphasizing its commitment to uplifting local communities.
