Adani Power secures 25-year deal to supply 2,400 MW to Bihar

Adani Power Limited (APL) announced on September 13, 2025, the signing of a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. (BSPGCL). This agreement is for the supply of 2,400 MW of power from a new ultra-supercritical plant to be established in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur district, Bihar. This follows a Letter of Award issued by BSPGCL in August for long-term electricity procurement for North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL).

The new 2,400 MW (3X800MW) thermal power project will be developed under a Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model, with Adani Power planning an investment of approximately $3 billion. The company secured the project by offering the lowest supply rate of ₹6.075 per KWh. The coal linkage for the plant has been allocated under the Government of India’s SHAKTI Policy.

The project is expected to generate significant employment, with an estimated 10,000 to 12,000 jobs during the construction phase and around 3,000 during operation. Adani Power aims to fully commission the plant within 60 months.
